Medical School Survey

The AMSA Medical School Survey has been designed so that premedical students can learn about medical schools directly from medical students. If you are a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year medical student, we encourage you to complete a survey about your school.

Please answer each question to the best of your ability. The answer choices for each question are: Poor, Fair, Average, Above Average, Excellent, or No Opinion. Please answer every question, although you are free to select No Opinion for any question if you wish.

MEDICAL SCHOOL:



Atmosphere
Learning environment (i.e. poor = competitive; excellent = cooperative student body)
Opportunities to get involved in extracurricular activities and level of student involvement

Geography
Safety of the campus
Enjoyment of the area

Supportive Environment for:
Careers in primary care
Underrepresented ethnic minorities
Lesbian, gay, and bisexual students
Students with disabilities
Married students

Academics (Years 1 & 2):
Quality of teaching in years 1 and 2
Adequacy of curriculum in preparing you for USMLE Step 1
Hours per week in lectures for students in traditional curriculum
Opportunities for patient interaction in the year 1 and 2 curriculum

Academics (Years 3 & 4):
Please select "No Opinion" for these questions if you are not a 3rd or 4th year student.
Quality of teaching in years 3 and 4
Amount of responsibility given to students for patient care
Overall assessment of the clinical training at your school

Facilities
Adequacy of computer labs
Adequacy of libraries
Adequacy of study space

Administration
Helpfulness of administration, i.e. Dean of Students
Financial aid counseling
Administration's support/encouragement of student organizations
Student involvement in administrative decisions, i.e. admissions, curriculum, etc.

Opportunities
For research
To receive career guidance and mentoring
For experience with underserved populations

Overall satisfaction
Provide an overall rating of your school
