AMSA Premed

I think we can all agree that applying to medical school can be a long, comprehensive and exhausting process. One of the things that premedical andundergraduate students excel at is having the ambition and drive to get involved, down and dirty, and diving head first into opportunities to make a difference and see something new. For over 50 years, AMSA has been dedicated to serving the needs of physicians-in-training. Premedical students are most certainly physicians-in-training, and are encouraged to join in on the opportunities that AMSA can offer students.

  • AAMC Fee Assistance Program Accepting Applications
The AAMC's Fee Assistance Program (FAP), which helps defray the cost of applying to medical school and taking the entrance exam, is now accepting applications for 2008. The FAP reduces or waives fees associated with the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) and the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) for applicants whose annual family income is 300 percent or less of the federal poverty level. To receive fee assistance this calendar year, qualified applicants must obtain approval from the FAP prior to registering for any MCAT 2008 test dates or entering into the AMCAS 2008 medical school application cycle. In 2007, more than 6,000 people applied for fee assistance; about 80 percent were approved or tentatively-approved (pending receipt of documentation).
